Mercedes-Benz family gets N1.6b outlet in Lekki

MERCEDES-BENZ has taken another step aimed at consolidating its operation in the highly competitive Nigerian market. The foremost firm has tentatively fixed March 2010 for the unveiling of an ultra modern complex fortified with various segments.

Located along the highbrow Lekki-Epe Expressway in Lagos State, the outlet which is valued at over N1.6 billion occupies about 15,000 square metres space, boast of a glass dome, rotating Mercedes-Benz star and about 200 metres run way for test drive only. When the complex becomes operational, there would be no need for engineers to take vehicles outside the premises for a test drive.

There is also a detached office complex for a new generation bank and Weststar Associates, representative of Mercedes-Benz family in Nigeria. With the new complex, Weststar Associate would relocates from Victoria Island and employ more expatriate workers to strengthen its line up as part of strategy to boost Mercedes-Benz expansion agenda.

Also within the complex, there are various segments including a huge spare part compartment designed to meet the requirement of Maybach, Mercedes-Benz Vans/Truck/Buses, Cars, Sports Utility Vehicles (SUV) and special section for bullet-proof vehicles.

When The Guardian visited the complex recently, it was also observed that detailed effort was made to cater for customers comfort, while drivers and technicians who work late would have access to all the features found in a modern home.

A source told The Guardian that the edifice, which is expected to be among the best in Africa, would operate an open door policy. "This place would be open to everybody"

The source added that about 80 per cent of Mercedes-Benz client in Lagos reside within Ikoyi, Victoria Island, Victoria Garden City and Lekki axis.

The source said the complex is more than 90 per cent completed, adding that effort are already in top gear to construct a similar project in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

Meanwhile, Weststar has announced its latest offer to mark the end of a successful year by offering discounts on all its models with two years warranty and after sales service.

"We want to thank consumers for years of patronage by offering them never before seen prices for this world class brand. Customers can walk into any of our authorised dealerships and drive out a beautiful car equipped and specified for the Nigerian market at great prices," said Weststar.

The campaign, which commenced at the end of November is called 'Just Say Yes' and is Weststar's way of extending itself to consumers and offering them what it identified as "the deal of a lifetime".

A statement issued by the company said the campaign would last until the end of January or for as long as stock lasts.

It added that Consumers are urged to take advantage of the opportunity by visiting the showrooms of any of Weststar's authorised dealership network spread across the nation.
